The Regina Pacis Academy Library

I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.
— Jane Austen

Regina Pacis Academy offers a beautiful classical Catholic library to all of our students and faculty! Students visit the library weekly through the school year to explore, research and select books for recreational reading as well as school projects. The library time provides supplemental support to the classical curriculum at each grade level through collaboration with the classroom teachers.

The Regina Pacis Academy Library houses an ever-growing collection of books carefully selected for Grades Pre-K through 8. Our book collection includes genres such as: classical, theology, history, science, fiction, poetry, Advent & Christmas, Lent & Easter, picture books, leveled readers, special Catholic sections that are Pro-Life, Marian and all about Saint Joseph!

Our books are an integral part of the building blocks to our Catholic classical school where goodness, truth and beauty are part of each story, tale or fable. The beauty found throughout the pages of great children’s literature is what helps feed our children’s hearts, minds and souls!

Students at Regina Pacis Academy may check out up to three books per week and return books during their next library visit. Younger grade levels, K to Grade 4, enjoy story time once per week with school librarian Mrs. Bishop as well as checking out books. Story time for younger students ties into the liturgical seasons of the year or themes being taught in history or science classes. We read about the lives of the saints during the month in which their feast day falls, as well as special times of the year such as Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter.

Good books teach children about important life lessons. The classical purpose for teaching literature is the same as the classical purpose for teaching anything: to cultivate wisdom and virtue and grow closer to God. Classical literature exposes each student to models of virtue and places demands on the intellect which help each child grow and thrive!
